Vijayawada: Amaravati capital is likely to attract more number of industries. The recent partnership summit held in Visakhapatnam and number of MoUs entered by various companies indicate industrial growth in capital region. In infrastructure sector eight companies entered into MoU and in food procession 65 companies entered into MoU with state government. Krishna district tops in mango cultivation but there were no processing units in the region. As a result the farmers were forced to sell mangoes in distress and the agents from northern States are buying the mango crop at throwaway prices.

So, the government is considering to provide value addition to the agricultural produce and set up cold storage facilities and food processing units in the district for the benefit of farmers. Meanwhile, Krishna district is also ahead in aquaculture and the revenue on fisheries sector multiplied recently. There were no sufficient food processing units in aqua sector too. The district administration is waiting for new food processing units in aqua sector to come up in the coastal region of the district.

District Industries Centre general manager G Rajendra Prasad said 17 industries entered into MoU with government to set up industries in Krishna district as the single-window system has been attracting more number of industrialists and said three mega industries are under implementation stage in the district. Rajendra Prasad said that after the government introduced single window scheme to attract more number of industries, enquiries pouring in to set up industries in the district.

Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry federation executive director P Bhaskara Rao expressed hope that more number of industries would come up in the State as serious investors attended the partnership summit at Visakhapatnam. He said that in Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor Kankipadu and Gannavaram were shown as industrial zones. But the CRDA has been marking them as green zones in its capital master plan. He said that the officials should clear the confusion by clearly indicating industrial zones in the district to attract more number of industrialists.
