Vijayawada: A six year old boy who went missing from home at Chitti Nagar on January 14 was found dead at the outfall drain near KL Rao Nagar in the city on Monday. The incident seemed to be an accident since the boy who went missing might have tried to cross the drain that is completely piled up of silt, said the police.

According to the details, Basava Sai Teja (5), son of B Prasad, a petty worker was playing outdoors when he was last seen by his parents. Later, they found him missing and after looking out for him everywhere possible, they lodged a complaint with the police on January 16. Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, locals at KL Rao Nagar noticed body of a boy afloat in the drain amidst heaps of garbage. They informed the police who rushed to the spot and confirmed it was Sai Teja, who went missing.

Town-2 Circle Inspector M Durga Rao speaking to this newspaper said, “The boy might have tried to cross the drain mistaking it as a road piled up with garbage. The silt and waste products floating on the drain were too dense that have led to the accident. We are awaiting the autopsy report for further probe into it.”
