Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation would summon additional staff for neighbouring municipalities in order to conduct round-the-clock sanitation work every day in the city during the International Fleet Review which is scheduled for February.

At a special review meeting convened here on Thursday on sanitation for the IFR event, Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar asked the officials to mainly focus on cleaning the roads and shifting the garbage from time to time to ensure Swachh Visakha.

He said many international delegates and officials will attend the event. Hence, he directed the officials to deploy sanitary workers in three shifts, and functioning of workers would be monitored by the zonal-level officials and the public health department.

Additional Commissioner (General) GVVS Murty, Swachh Bharat consultant Uday Singh, Urban Community Development project director Srinivasan, chief city planner D Venkata Ratnam, deputy commissioner Ravindra, superintending engineers Venkateswara Rao, Mariyanna, zonal commissioners Satyaveni, P Nallanaiah, Y Srinivasa Rao and Ch Naaga Narasimha Rao were present.
