Atmakur (Kurnool): Following tip off that the leopard poacher, Vemula Nageswara Rao is going to surrender in the court of the Senior Civil Judge here, the Forest personnel laid a stakeout at the judicial court on Thursday. It may be recalled that a criminal case was registered against Nageswara Rao on January 17 stating that he hid paws and bones of the leopard in his field near Siddhapalli village near Atmakur.

After several twists and turns during the investigation, the forest staff suspended the lower run staff in a bid to protect Birluti forest ranger Sankaraiah. They received a tip off on Thursday that Nageswara Rao would surrender in the judicial court on Thursday. Once he enters the judicial court, it would not be possible for the forest staff to arrest him.

Sizable number of Forest personnel laid the stakeout near the judicial court to arrest him in case he appears. They had even put two lawyers under surveillance. Finally, they had to retreat as Nageswara Rao did not turn up at the judicial court.
