Narsapur: Bandaru Madhava Naidu, MLA of Narsapur said that Rs 11.67 crore was sanctioned under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Assurance (MGNREGA) scheme for the development of roads in the constituency.

He inaugurated several drinking water tanks at Rustumbada, Lakshmaneswaram and Turputallu villages in Narsapuram rural mandal on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA claimed that he persuaded the State government to release Rs 2.18 crore to supply protected drinking water to people.

“Water tanks will be developed in eighteen villages with funds from Central Protected Water (CPW) scheme,” he added.

He also directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to tackle the drinking water problem during summer season. He regretted that during every summer, the filter beds have to be repaired in coastal areas, as the salt percentage is rising.

Meanwhile, Rural Water Supply (RWS) contract staff gave a representation to the MLA stating that they are not getting wages for eight months. He assured the contract staff that they will receive the wage arrears soon.

Agricultural Market Yard Chairman Rayudu Sriramulu, Mandal President Vatadi Kanakaraju, ZPTC Member B Pratap, Sarpanch Chamber President G S Lakshmi Phani, Sarpanches Yadpalli Lakshmi, G Patemma, Donga Ramalakshmi, Kadali Venkatalakshmi, Mandru Hemalatha and other accompanied the MLA.
