Essel team discusses smart city proposal with Mayor
EIL President (Cities & Strategy) Guy Perry and Buddhadeb Bakshi, consultant for Hyderabad region, were among the team. They spoke to Mayor Abdul Aziz and Commissioner K Venkateswarlu on the positive aspects for designing the city as a smart one.
Nellore: A team from Essel Infraprojects Limited (EIL) from Mumbai visited the Nellore Municipal Corporation here on Wednesday and interacted with Mayor and other officials on smart city proposal.
EIL President (Cities & Strategy) Guy Perry and Buddhadeb Bakshi, consultant for Hyderabad region, were among the team. They spoke to Mayor Abdul Aziz and Commissioner K Venkateswarlu on the positive aspects for designing the city as a smart one.
The Mayor explained to them that the city was not in the list of smart 20 cities announced by the Centre recently. He informed them that the Municipal Administration department had inked MoU with the CII for supporting the cause in the presence of the Chief Minister and Municipal Minister.
As part of the agreement, the officials from the EIL visited the city and conducted survey a couple of days ago on drawing plans to make the city a smart one. Initially, an area or a street would be developed as a model one for replicating the same in other parts of the city after finding the results.
The group has been working with Mumbai and Visakhapatnam civic bodies on smart city plans. They said the city would be developed as a smart one in the coming two to three years. Corporation officials and others were present.
