Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the construction of temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi village in Guntur district on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the construction of temporary Secretariat, which is being undertaken at a cost of Rs 201 crore, will be completed within four months.

Naidu stated that he will sit in the temporary Secretariat from June 15. Taking about shifting of employees, the CM said that 16,000 government employees will start working from here by second week of June and appealed to the house owners not to hike rents.

Terming the construction of temporary Secretariat as expensive but inevitable, Naidu asserted that these buildings will not be wasted. “Six blocks will be constructed for administrative purpose and after the constructing the permanent Secretariat, these buildings would be used as offices for other government departments,” he added.

“I have constructed Cyberabad and Hitec City and the area was developed subsequently. Similarly, capital region will also develop. The farmers, who gave their lands for the construction of capital, will be benefited as the price of lands will hike, because of development that will take place,” the CM asserted.

Naidu said that he would never forget farmers, who gave 33,000 acres of land for the capital construction within short time. “Though State has been facing severe financial crisis after bifurcation, I took it as a challenge and acquired land through land pooling system, which benefitted the farmers too,” he claimed.

The CM claimed that the world is looking towards AP as a favourable investment destination. Lashing out at opposition parties, he charged that opposition parties are trying to obstruct the development. “They never give any suggestions for the development of the State and some parties are trying to create communal disturbances to create hurdles for development,” he said.

Naidu urged the opposition parties to extend their cooperation for development of State or keep quiet. Quoting CAG report, he said that the State would have deficit budget even in 2019 but assured that the government is pulling out all stops to attract investments. Asserting that he will develop all the regions of the State, the CM said that coastal region will be developed, if ports are developed.
