HC allows Dharmana to retain security cover

Hyderabad: Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Thursday directed the authorities to continue with the old security cover to former Minister and YSRCP leader Dharmana Prasad Rao.

The judge was dealing with a petition filed by the former Minister complaining that his security cover of 1+1 armed guards were withdrawn without any prior notice. The counsel representing the Andhra Pradesh government informed the court that the security cover was withdrawn after a State-level security review committee failed to find any genuine threat perception to the YSRCP leader.

The judge directed the police authorities not to recall the security cover and adjourned the matter to March 3, granting time to the government to respond.
