Kapu leaders petition hearing adjourned

Hyderabad: Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned for further hearing a petition alleging inaction of the State government in including various communities to the Backward Classes’ list.

The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Dr KVK Rao chairman of the Kapu Reservation Porata Samithi and Ch Venkata Rayudu. The petitioners complained that the government had failed to conduct any enquiry to include Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari castes into the list of BCs.

The counsel appearing for the government informed the court that the government had constituted a commission headed by retired judge Justice Manjunatha to conduct an inquiry for the inclusion of the said castes in the list of BCs.
