2 die, 10 injured in mishaps
Two persons were killed and 10 others suffered injuries in separate road accidents on the National Highway No 16 near Vijayawada in the early hours of Friday. The deceased have been identified as Alluramma (38) and Joseph (21), both natives of Vijayawada. About 20 others suffered injuries and were shifted to the government hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Alluramma (38) and Joseph (21), both natives of Vijayawada. About 20 others suffered injuries and were shifted to the government hospital for treatment.
According to police, the first accident occurred when a speeding lorry hit an auto (Tata Ace) in which a marriage party was proceeding towards Giddaluru in Prakasam district from Darsipeta in the city. When it reached near Sentini Hospitals at Currency Nagar, a lorry going towards Benz Circle from Gannavaram hit the auto which overturned.
Alluramma was travelling in the auto and she has been rushed to the hospital by others only to be declared dead by the doctors. Passengers traveling in the auto along with her received injuries. On the other hand, a two wheeler was hit by an oil tanker that was traveling towards Ramvarappadu near Nirmala Convent Junction.
The bike rider Joseph (21) was killed on the spot and his brother Namakoti Venkat Rao who was pillion riding received severe injuries. He was shifted to a private hospital for better treatment and his condition is said to be critical. Police registered cases and took up investigation in both the accidents.
