Delay in uploading capital's master plan raises doubts

Vijayawada: People of capital region have been expressing concern over the delay in uploading the details of Amaravati's master plan by CRDA officials. The CRDA officials failed to upload the details of the capital's master plan in CRDA website even after 24 hours. A villager D Bullodu of Lingayapalem said that he was not aware of the master plan and added that no copy of master plan was displayed in the village panchayat.

He said that in the absence of master plan details, villagers are worried over the existence of their houses though the officials claim that they minimised the demolition of houses to 360 from 3,600 earlier. CPM capital region committee convener Ch Babu Rao said that the delay in publicising the details of the capital's master plan has been raising doubts among people. He said that the officials released a master plan map and failed to furnish details of master plan even after one day.

He added that the villagers have been eagerly waiting for knowing the details of master plan over allotment of plots to the farmers and the laying of roads. He said that roads are one of the important subjects of the master plan and said that the officials have to clarify on several other issues incorporated in the master plan. The CPM leader also said that the officials should maintain transparency by revealing the number of objections raised on draft master plan and the number of grievances solved during final master plan.

It may be noted that Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana released the Amaravati capital master plan around 10 pm on Monday and claimed that the demolition of the houses was minimised in the master plan as per the suggestions of villagers. He said that 99 per cent of objections including Gramkantam issues were also solved in the master plan.
