Amaravati: More than six lakh devotees are expected to visit Trikoteswara Swamy temple in Kotappakonda on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri to be celebrated on March 7.

The Guntur Rural District police officials are making elaborate security arrangements for the festivities. The police officials are planning to engage services of 5,000 cops for security arrangements for festivities. They are getting additional forces from Guntur Urban police district, Prakasam and Nellore districts. They will set up nine check-posts and two police out-posts in Narasaraopet town. They will set up one security out-post on the hillock of the temple.

The police have decided not to allow vehicles on the hill on this occasion. Only vehicles of VVIPS will be allowed. For VIPs, they are engaging 25 special buses to go to temple. They have already set up vehicle parking place near Kotappakonda hill to park 3,000 vehicles.

The VIPs have to park their vehicles and from there will go to temple by special buses. The police have taken steps to solve traffic problem.

The police have also decided not to allow obscene dances on the occasion of the festivities. The police officials have warned that they will book cases against those who violate the norms and take stern action against them.

Narasaraopet DSP K Nageswara Rao on Sunday conducted a meeting with the Prabha organizers and sought their cooperation for the smooth conduct of festivities. He urged the Prabha organizers not keep flexi boards of leaders of political parties on the Prabhas and flags of the political parties. The police officials are expecting that at least 60 Prabhas will take part in the festivities. The police department will issue passes to Prabhas and allot the place. The police will step up vigilance on the movements of the suspects.

The DSP said, “This year we have decided not to allow obscene dances on the Prabhas. If anybody violate the norms, we will take stern action against them. We have conducted a meeting with the organizers in Chilakaluripet and Narasaraopet town also. We will watch movements of the suspects. We are expecting at least 6 lakh devotees.”
