Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation (APBWC) chairman IYR Krishna Rao on Friday called upon the community members to make best use of the schemes implemented by the corporation.

Speaking at an awareness session organised by the APBWC on loans and schemes implemented by the corporation on Friday, Krishna Rao said that so far the corporation has extended financial assistance to about 13,000 poor Brahmins directly through scholarships, educational benefit, coaching for competitive exams, skill development and entrepreneurship development.

“The corporation is come up with a novel ‘Sri Krishna- Sudhama Endowment Scheme,’ through which donations will be collected and the interest will be spent on the welfare of marginalised people from the Brahmin community. The scheme will be launched shortly by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu,” he informed. Krishna Rao said that apart from providing financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries, the corporation would construct Aarama Kshetrams and Community Halls. “Plans are also afoot to expand schemes to newer areas such as health insurance, food and shelter for destitute and pensions for widows and the elderly,” he added.

MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, AP Brahmin Welfare Corporative Society CEO Abijith, Andhra Pradesh Brahmana Seva Sangha Samakhya (APBSSS) general secretary Kunuru Satish Sharma, corporator G Mahesh and others were also present.
