Fire broke out at about 3 pm on Wednesday in the forest area of East Balaji Nagar in Tirumala hills. According to sources, the fire soon spread fast perishing vegetation and trees to an extent of two acres and partially affecting the trees in about five acres before the fire department and TTD Forest personnel reached the area in Seshachalam forests. 

Tirupati: Fire broke out at about 3 pm on Wednesday in the forest area of East Balaji Nagar in Tirumala hills. According to sources, the fire soon spread fast perishing vegetation and trees to an extent of two acres and partially affecting the trees in about five acres before the fire department and TTD Forest personnel reached the area in Seshachalam forests.

After struggling for about an hour, the fire was put off. Though, forest fires are common in the Seshachalam forest during summer months, the fire in East Balaji Nagar area before the onset of summer, alerted the TTD forest department which is maintaining some of the areas in Seshachalam forest in the Tirumala hills on the imminent need for fool-proof preventive measures to check fire mishaps to save the precious forest wealth.
