The APSRTC has bagged four national awards from Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) for 2014-15. Corporation Managing Director and Vice-President N Sambasiva Rao received the award at a function held to mark the 60th anniversary of ASRTU in Bengaluru on Tuesday. 

Vijayawada: The APSRTC has bagged four national awards from Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) for 2014-15. Corporation Managing Director and Vice-President N Sambasiva Rao received the award at a function held to mark the 60th anniversary of ASRTU in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The APSRTC has bagged the fuel efficiency award (average of 5.23 km per litre of diesel) for 2014-15 from ASRTU, New Delhi. This is the fifth consecutive year for the corporation to receive the award for achieving the highest KMPL in fuel efficiency among all the STUs operating mofussil services.

The corporation also bagged the awards for maintaining low operational cost of Rs 26.02 per km and gain in secretarial rebate and increase in vehicle productivity under mofussil services which improved from 320.59 km to 381.19 km per day.

After receiving the award, APSRTC MD thanked all the officers, drivers and staff for their selfless service. He said drivers and mechanics have been playing a vital role in getting the awards for the last five years.
