Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Lakshmi Prasad said that he met the Chief Minister at Assembly on Wednesday. He said that he asked the Chief Minister to direct the officials to carryout transactions in Telugu as mentioned in the Telugu Desam party manifesto.
He said that he asked the Chief Minister to start the Telugu university in Rajahmundry from this academic year as promised by him during Godavari Pushkaralu. He said Telugu should be made compulsory up to degree level.
Lakshmi Prasad said that TDP MLA G Syamsundar Shivaji raised question on failure to use Telugu in the reports submitted by the Ministers in the Assembly. He said that Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad should take initiative to carry out Assembly proceedings in Telugu.
He said if the officials fail to replace the foundation stone at Amaravati with Telugu language by Ugadi respecting the orders of Chief Minister, the Telugu language Samithi members would launch an agitation for implementation of Telugu language in the State. Telugu Bhasha Samithi president Sama Ramesh, Congress leader Kolanukonda Shivaji and others were present.
