The AP Cabinet meeting has commenced on Saturday at the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu\'s office in Vijayawada where the issues over the non-fulfilment of Central assurances to the state are being discussed. 

The AP Cabinet meeting has commenced on Saturday at the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's office in Vijayawada where the issues over the non-fulfilment of Central assurances to the state are being discussed.

While the revenue shortfall of Rs 16,000 crore to the state was to be compensated by the Centre, however, nothing much has happened on that front. Even the Special Status category for the state has not been granted yet while the regular allocations to the state is passed off by the Centre as its magnanimity. The Cabinet is yet to take a decision on filling up 25,000 posts in the state and is expected to to discuss the welfare programmes taken up for the Kapus, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.

While the Kapus who form the majority in the Coastal Andhra were given an assurance on the Backward Class status by the ruling TDP, Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is demanding the inclusion of the Kapus among the Backward Classes which is further going to be decided by the Manjunath Committee.
