Chittoor: Keeping in view the blazing sun and its ill effects on school children, the Chittoor Municipal Corporation has come forward to supply free butter milk at various schools in the town. Chittoor In-Charge Mayor Subramanaym appealed to the philanthropists, voluntary organisations and prominent personalities of the town to donate funds liberally to provide butter milk and ORS packets to the children as a preventive measure to overcome the sunstroke threat.

It may be noted that the government has decided to run all the educational institutions up to April 23, including private educational institutions. In order to keep the school children free from sunstroke in the age group of 5 to 10 years, the Chittoor Municipal Corporation has made elaborate arrangements at the centres where butter milk, ORS packets and cold water would be supplied.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Chittoor In-Charge Mayor P Subramanayam admitted that many school children have been admitted to the hospitals due to sunstroke during the past five days. He said that he is moved over the ill effects of sultry weather, therefore all the students of the elementary school will be given two glasses of butter milk in two spells.

The voluntary organisations would take care of the centres. He felt that it would not be a financial burden on the municipal corporation. Chittoor Municipal Commissioner Suresh said that it is the responsibility of the parents and the teachers to keep their children in safe atmosphere keeping a close watch on the changing climate.

He instructed the teachers of the Municipal Elementary Schools to be very prompt and punctual in attending to the needs of the children by alerting their parents and the municipal authorities.
