Nellore: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary P Madhu ruled out any tie-up with Congress party in the State. Interacting with media persons at party office here on Tuesday, Madhu said that the previous alliances with the Congress fetched nothing and hence they have decided not to consider any tie-ups with party in the near future.

He failed to respond on the criticism that CPM leaders shared stage with Rahul Gandhi recently in Kolkata in connection with West Bengal polls and said that he doesn’t have proper information to comment. Madhu said that they would be conducting Samajika Chaitanya Yatras across the State from April 5 in connection with BR Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary.

“Dalits and tribals are still battling issues like untouchability, lack of burial grounds and others. In Anantapur, there are burial grounds for Dalits only in 106 villages out of 1,007 villages in the entire district. Though, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is constructing a huge statue for Ambedkar, he is not focusing on basic amenities for Dalits in their colonies,” the CPM leader criticised.

He came down heavily on TDP leaders and accused them of illegally mining sand and making huge bucks. “The ruling party is encouraging Janmabhoomi committees to manage local resources and they have been exploiting them without barriers,” he stated. Questioning the double standards of the TDP, Madhu said that the party, which lambasted TRS for poaching its leaders in Telangana, is luring leaders from other parties in the State.

“Naidu’s government failed to protect the interest of the people of the State, post bifurcation. Even though the State government requested for Rs 30,000 crore towards various developmental programmes, the Centre released only Rs 900 crore, which is a proof of how the government has failed,” the CPM State Secretary lashed out. He reiterated that the party would works for people and called upon the leaders and cadre to do the same.
