Father kills daughter

Chirala: The police of Vetapalem in Prakasam mandal unearthed the truth behind the death of a minor girl who has assets on her name and found that she was killed by her father and for having a love affair. The accused were arrested by the police on Wednesday in Vetapalem. Katakam Durga Bhavani, aged 16 years and native of Vetapalem.

She was studying Intermediate in a local college and had ancestral assets worth Rs 50 lakhs on her name. For the last one year, she was in love with Polaiah, living near their house but a native of Nellore district. The couple eloped from home quite a few times and her family members brought them back from Nellore district.

Bhavani and Poliah once again fled home in the last week of February but her father Venkateswarlu was able to contact them and assured Poliah that the girl would return after writing her Intermediate exams. However, on March 3, Venkateswarlu’s relatives Pagadala Rambabu, Husainamma their sons Venkateswarlu and Sreenu invited Bhavani to their home.

Since her father was there at the place, unsuspecting Bhavani reached Rambabu’s house but all of them killed her by hanging her with a dupatta. Later, Bhavani’s father informed his family members and relatives that she had committed suicide for failing in love and cremated the body immediately after postmortem.

But, Bhavani’s brother Gopi, who was living in Varanasi, suspected the behavior of their father and doubted something fishy. Then Gopi lodged a complaint with police and said that he is suspecting his father. In the police interrogation, Venkateswarlu revealed how he killed his daughter in the name of honour and money and the names of all involved in the murder.
