National Human Rights Commission team to visit Polavaram project site

A team of National Human Rights Commission comprising Indrajeet Kumar, Assistant Registrar (Law) and Rajbir Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, will be visiting Polavaram in the West Godavari district to inquire into the complaints of forced evictions of tribals and non- payment of compensation and inhuman treatment meted out to people due to the project works.
New Delhi: A team of National Human Rights Commission comprising Indrajeet Kumar, Assistant Registrar (Law) and Rajbir Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, will be visiting Polavaram in the West Godavari district to inquire into the complaints of forced evictions of tribals and non- payment of compensation and inhuman treatment meted out to people due to the project works.
Dr P Pulla Rao who repeatedly petitioned the NHRC on the issues received a copy of the letter on Wednesday which he released to the media with an appeal to the people to depose before the Commission Members. The two-member team would tour the area between April 10 and 14 and meet the people.
