Notification for VMDA soon

Visakhapatnam: The VUDA Board, which met here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of R Karikal Valaven, Chairman of VUDA and the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, approved the VUDA Budget for 2016-17 with revenue receipts of Rs. 969.65 crore.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, the Chairman said VUDA would pay attention in finalising the growth centres on economic model after a careful study of benefits to the local, regional development and benefits to public and the organisation. He said the final notification for Visakhapatnam Metro Development Authority would be announced soon.
Stating the status on Vizag Metro project, Karikal Valaven said the DPR was already approved by the State government and it has been forwarded to the Central government. The Union government in turn will forward the DPR to the Public Informaion Board for further approval and later it will be submitted to the funding agency.
Answering to the queries on final location of INS Virat after its decommission, the Chairman said the project aspects should be finalised by the State government, while feasibility, technical study of hauling the ship ashore, funding for establishing it as a museum and other issues are under the consideration of the State government.
With regard to the elections to the GVMC, he said the issue of wards division would be initiated after the revision of voters list.
The VUDA Board in its meeting discussed about 52 issues and approved most of them. As a welfare measure, the board positively considered the long pending issue of regularisation of 48 NMRs and resolved to request the government for considering their placement in time-scale category.
Works and expenditures relating to various projects of VUDA such as City Central Park, Airport beautification, IFR works, adoption of revised pay to the employees and pensioners, master plan roads, selection of consultants for preparing plan for Anandapuram Area development and other issues were approved by the board.
VUDA Vice-Chairman T Baburao Naidu explained the issues to the Chairman and members through a PowerPoint presentation. District Collectors of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam N Yuvaraj, MM Naik, P Lakshminarasimham , GVMC Commissioner Praveen Kumar, APEPDCL CMD R Mutyalaraju, Director of Town and Country Planning GV Raghu attended the Board meeting as members.
