Vijayawada: Majority of the students who participated in the awareness session on ‘IIT Foundation course’ at IV Palace here on Sunday expressed their satisfaction and claimed that training incorporated by the teachers was enabling them to compete with the students of corporate schools.

A student named Syed Anwar of Class X says “Mathematics was a tough subject for me from childhood. But introduction of IIT foundation course enabled me to score decent marks in Maths. Since my teachers trained me with simple techniques to solve the mathematical problems during the classes. Measures should be taken by the government to introduce the foundation courses from Class VI itself to enable the students gain more knowledge and to compete in the competitive examinations without any fear” he said.

A teacher named Sarala Devi from Municipal School, Wynchpeta appealed to the Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao to introduce English medium in all the municipal corporation schools across the State. “Majority of the students studying in municipal schools hail from poor and economically backward families. Student dropout will fall if English was introduced. Student’s confidence levels will be also boosted if they pursue English from their elementary education, which will enable them to participate in the competitive examinations,” she added.

Responding to her appeal, Minister said that already instructions were given to the officials of education department to find out the schools which are to be upgraded with English as their medium of education. He assured that by the next academic year all the municipal schools will offer English education to the students. The Minister also wanted the parents of students in municipal schools to focus more on their child education similar to parents of wards in corporate schools.
