Farmers of Penumaka, Undavalli seek exemption from land pooling
The farmers alleged that the CRDA had targeted them and was planning roads, water storage tanks and other activities in their lands. They wanted the CRDA to exempt their villages as they were not willing to part with their lands.
Vijayawada: The farmers of Undavalli and Penumaka, the two villages which have been opposing the land pooling for the capital, held a protest at the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) office here on Monday.
They submitted a representation to the CRDA commissioner N Srikanth requesting him to exempt the lands in their villages from the land pooling scheme.
Later, speaking to media persons, the farmers’ representative N Naresh Reddy said that farmers from the two villages, who own over 1900 acres had not given their lands for capital construction.
He said that the CRDA had proposed express way to the new capital area passing through their lands. “We have refused to give our lands for the capital. We have also challenged the land pooling system in the court and it is pending before the court. How can the CRDA make markings in our lands for the express way?” Naresh Reddy asked.

He further said that they had presented their objections to the CRDA in the prescribed 9.2 form. Even when the draft master plan was also released for the capital, he said that the farmers of the two villages had given their objections in writing to the CRDA and wondered how the officials could plan the roads and other activities in their lands.
He asserted that they would protect their lands at any cost and wanted the government to not occupy their agricultural lands.
