Amaravati: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) identified 7,332 hectares of reserved forest land in Guntur district for the construction of capital.

The land parcel was identified after a joint survey was conducted along with forest officials. Sources said that the CRDA officials are preparing proposals to de-notify the forest land and will be forwarding the same to the Central government in a week.

Forest department officials state that in order to de-notify the reserved forest land, the State government has to pay Rs 4.3 lakh, per hectare, give equivalent land to for development of forest elsewhere apart from paying maintenance expenses for 7 years.

As much as 1,430 hectares of reserve forest land was available in Venkatayapalem extension -5 and Peadamadduru stands at last with only 115 hectares of reserve forest land.

The CRDA is expected to finalise the required land within two days and upload the same in its website. Speaking to The Hans India, district forest officer (DFO) Guntur, G Nageswara Rao said that they will take some time to hand over the land to the CRDA after payment of compensation.
