Vijayawada: The latest comments of Janasena leader and film actor Pawan Kalyan who has a craze among the younger generation are causing a stir in the two Telugu States, as he intends to enter politics. They have made some curious, while causing anxiety among others.

  • Sardar Gabbar Singh’ may start second political innings by 2017-end
  • He may complete two or three films he has already committed to and take the plunge
  • Star may undertake a bus yatra or a padayatra to reach out to people

After Pawan Kalyan spoke out against the State government with regard to promised special status, problems of farmers in the capital region and even threatening to resort to fast unto death, some TDP leaders tried to counter the star’s stand.

However, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have counselled them to observe restraint apprehending a tense situation developing.

While some leaders in Andhra Pradesh are happy with Pawan’s announcements, some are becoming anxious as they view him as a key player in the Kapu community and that it may place these leaders in an awkward position.

This debate is also on in the ruling party. The ruling party leaders are worried whether the star will work for or against the present crop of TDP legislators. He is viewed as being responsible for the TDP doing well in Godavari districts.

From the comments of Pawan Kalyan, it is clear that he wants to complete two or three films he has already committed to by the end of 2017. In the two years left for the next general elections, Pawan wants to start the second political innings.

Although it is not clear whether he will undertake a ’bus yatra’ or a ‘padayatra’, one thing is sure that he will go to the people. Also it is not clear to what extent his charisma will have an impact in Telangana.

But one thing is clear, Pawan Kalyan has shaken the three main parties in the Telugu States. While the TDP seems to be confident of coming back to power in 2019, the YSRCP, which missed the bus in 2014, is hopeful of doing well. The BJP is also testing its fortunes in Andhra Pradesh.
