Speaking to mediapersons at Janampeta village in Pedavegi mandal of West Godavari district on Tuesday, after visiting the Polavaram Right Main Canal (PRMC) works, the Minster said that the Chief Minister is keen to complete the project within the stipulated time.

“They will be shifted to rehabilitation areas only with their consent,” he stated and lashing out at previous governments for leaving people to their fate, the Minister said, “The CM vowed to do justice to the people.”

He directed engineering officials to complete the PRMC works by third week of May apart from instructing officials to take necessary precautionary measures for the safety of workers in the wake of summer and rising temperatures.

“The workers will stop work from 12 noon to 4 pm. They will for 20 hours in three shifts,” he added. The Minister said that all tanks will be de-silted before summer under Neeru-Chettu scheme.

“A workshop will be organised for farmers to create awareness on NTR Jalasiri, Panta Sanjeevani, drinking water and other issues. The CM will also participate in the workshop,” he informed.

Commenting on the depleting groundwater levels in the State, Devineni directed the officials to send hourly messages on groundwater levels. He stated in no uncertain terms that digging of PRMC or other canal bunds is not allowed and directed officials to be vigilant.
