According to Railway police, the gang man on duty found the boy in a seriously injured condition on the track near Vatluru Railway Station in the midnight and informed ambulance. The boy was shifted to Eluru Government Hospital. The doctors admitted him in the surgical ward, as he received head injury.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the locals found the bodies of woman and girl 100 meters from the track where the boy was rescued. The bodies were shifted to Eluru Government Hospital for identification. Meanwhile, K Karunamma of Jaggavaram village in T Narsapuram Mandal of West Godavari district and her relatives reached to the hospital and identified the bodies as Dondapati Prabhavathi and her daughter Mahalakshmi.
They also identified the injured boy as Mahidhar. Karunamma is the maternal grandmother of Prabhavathi. She alleged that not bearing the torture of the husband Dondapati Koteswara Rao (35), Prabhavathi committed suicide along with her children. Prabhavathi was married to Koteswara Rao of Badarala village in Lingapalem mandal six years ago and had two children.
Korteswara Rao had developed extramarital affair quite some time before the birth of male child. Prabhavathi found her husband with the woman at her house. From that day onwards, Koteswara Rao started harassing her. As Prabhavathi was pregnant, her maternal grandmother Karunamma took her to Jaggavaram village for delivery.
After delivery, Prabhavathi reached her husband’s house after five months. Even after the birth of the child, Mahidhar, her husband did not stop harassment. The issue was referred to family counselling center in Eluru and both wife and husband were counselled there. Even after the counseling, Koteswara Rao did not stop the harassment and beaten her up four months back.
Prabhavathi made a complaint with Dharmajigudem police against the harassment. Three days ago, prior to the death of Prabhavathi, the victim consulted the Badarala village sarpanch Srinivasa Rao and told him that her husband might kill her. He assured her that he would look into the matter. However, on Tuesday, she came to Eluru with her children, as the boy is suffering from dehydration.
What happened after that was not known. The railway police found a ticket from Rajahmundry to Eluru in her possession. This created more confusion over the death of Prabhavathi and her girl. Why Prabhavathi came to Vatluru area with her children is a big question before the police. Police suspect that she might jump out of a moving train with her children to commit suicide.
The ticket shows that she purchased the ticket at 17:40 hours (5.40 pm) at Rajahmundry station. Meanwhile, her grandmother alleged that her granddaughter and her child died due to the harassment of Koteswara Rao. The boy’s condition is said to be critical as he received head injury. The railway police took Koteswara Rao into their custody as part of investigation.
