Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Kabaddi Association hopeful that Andhra Pradesh men’s team will emerge champions in the ensuing 8th National Beach Kabaddi (men’s and women’s) Championship which will be held at the RK Beach in the city from April 16.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, honorary secretary of the Association V Veeralankaiah said that 46 teams, including 24 men and 22 women from 24 States, are taking part in the National Beach Kabaddi Championship.

The matches will be held in six courts at the RK Beach. Neo Sports and Studio-N channels will telecast the championship live. The organisers has fixed the ticket prices- Rs 150 and Rs 300- per day and one can get the tickets at www.meraevents.com and also available at all the leading shopping malls in the city.

The Indian team for the Beach Asian Games, which will be held in September this year, will be selected from this championship. Chief Minister Nara N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to be the chief guest at the valedictory programme of the championship which will be held in the city on April 19.

Veeralankaiah said that Haryana men’s team is the defending championship in the tournament. The kabaddi tournament will give visual feast to the spectators as all the matches will be held under the flood lights at the RK Beach and some entertainment programems also planned every day, he added.
