Hyderabad: State Minorities Commission filed writ petition in High Court after both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments failed to submit NOC for its demand for CBI enquiry over irregularities of Wakf properties during the last 30 years.

The High Court on Monday ordered notices to all the respondents including the CBI and the matter was posted for hearing on June 8. In its writ petition, the Commission represented by its Chairman Abid Rasool Khan pleaded the Court to direct for a CBI enquiry into the issues of encroachments, mismanagements, misappropriation, misuse, illegal sale and transfer of thousands of acres of Wakf properties in both States by the Wakf Boards.

Apart from Chief Secretaries of States of Telangana and AP, Secretaries of Minorities Welfare departments and also the Chief Executive Officers of both the Wakf Boards were joined as parties in the writ petition.
