Visakhapatnam: Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar asked the officials to take necessary steps for setting up of a temporary dumping yard to dump the garbage of zone-2 in 10 acres of land at Mudasarlova. As part of his field visit on Tuesday, Praveen Kumar informed that the repairs of dumber bins and vehicles would be taken up at the Central Mechanical Engineering Complex which was coming up in another 30 acres of land nearby.

Later, during his visit from Jagadamba to Victoria statue in One Town, he informed that the action plan formulated by the VUDA to help widen the present main road as 100 feet road will be implemented. He also informed that a meeting will be conducted with house owners, tenants and shop owners soon to clear their doubts in widening the main road which was kept pending since long time.

He asked Chief City Planner D Venkata Ratnam to chalk out details for payment of structural compensation. Accompanied by Swachh Bharrat Visakha project manager Uday Singh, zonal commissioner Bapiraju, executive engineers Krishna Rao, Mahesh and assistant city planner Jayaram examined the Pole-Mounted Dust Bins at the Jagadamba Junction.

Praveen Kumar directed the officials to see that general public and shop owners must dump the garbage in the bins only and the sanitary workers have to clear the bins. He appealed to all the people to cooperate with the GVMC in making Swachh Visakha a reality. The Commissioner warned that fines will be imposed on those who paste posters or pamphlets on the GVMC walls, road dividers and traffic islands and directed the officials to act tough in dealing with such cases.

He informed that water kiosks will also be put up at important junctions in the city in view of heat wave and those voluntary organisations or philanthropists, who desire to set up kiosks, can contact the respective Zonal Commissioners for securing necessary permission.
