Hyderabad: The State government has bagged several awards during the Panchayati Raj Day celebrations held in Jamshedpur by the Union government in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated on Sunday.
Panchayat Raj Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu received the “Incremental Devolution Index Award” for the year 2014-15 from the Prime Minister. The award along with a sum of Rs 2 crore was given in recognition of the State government’s efforts to strengthen panchayats by formulating innovative plans.
Besides, Dharmasagaram village under Narsipatnam mandal in Visakhapatnam district has bagged the Panchayati Raj Swa Saktikaran award, under “Thematic Revenue Generation” category. According to a Panchayat Raj department communiqué, the village has been adopted by Chintakalaya Padmavathi, wife of Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu. The award was presented by Prime Minister to village Sarpanch S Ramanamma. Apart from Dharmasagaram, the Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad, Sattennapalli Mandal Parishad in Guntur district, Putalapattu and Kuppam Mandal Parishad in Chittoor district, Samrlakota Mandal Parishad in East Godavari have bagged the Panchayati Raj Swa Saktikaran Pursakar awards.
Also, in general category, Veluvennu Panchyat in Undrajavaram mandal in West Godavari district, Pamuru panchayat in Prakasam, Chodavaram Panchayat in Penamaluru mandal in Krishna districts have received the awards.
That apart, Kamballi panchyat in Simhadripuram mandal in Kadapa district, Dwarapudi village in Vizianagaram district has got Panchayat Rashtriya Gaurav awards. Heads of village Panchayat’s and Zilla Parishad Councils have received the awards and Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, Principal Secretary Panchayat Raj K S Jawahar Reddy, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Ramanjaneyulu were also present on the occasion.
