Vijayawada: Though the exit of former minister and senior leader M V Mysoora Reddy from the YSR Congress was long due, it has exposed the power struggle in the main Opposition party, led by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Mysoora Reddy on Wednesday dashed off a four-page letter to the party chief, citing reasons for his exit.

Mysoora Reddy, who is considered a think-tank of the party, had been inactive in the party for over past six months. An uncompromising opponent to late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, he had joined the YSR Congress leaving the Telugu Desam ‘on humanitarian grounds to stand by a family that had lost its head’.

However, he could not adjust himself with the party, particularly after the entry of former Union minister Ummareddi Venkateshwarlu into the YSRCP. The party chief had made Ummareddi an MLC from Guntur district, while Mysoora could not make it to the Legislative Council.

Since then, he had been keeping himself away from the party activities and at one point, he had planned to lead the Rayalaseema agitation. While political analysts see that the possibility of Mysoora leading the Rayalaseema movement is remote, his critics say that he has left the party only to get some government clearances for his family business.

Leaving aside the speculation over his future action plan, there is a debate on the issues he had raised in his four-page resignation letter, accusing the party chief Jaganmohan Reddy of intolerance and power-hungriness.

It is not just Mysoora Reddy, several other leaders, including those who have been leaving the party for the past few weeks, have made similar allegations against the party chief.

Senior leader Jyothula Nehru, who was the party deputy floor leader in the Assembly, till the other day, too had made similar comments against Jaganmohan Reddy.

It is said that several legislators have suggested to Jaganmohan Reddy to shift his base to the new capital as the Chief Minister had already started working from there.

While all parties have moved their base to the new capital region, YSR Congress leaders have been facing uncomfortable situation with their headquarters remaining in Hyderabad and the leader not being available to the people here.

The legislators like Bhuma Nagi Reddy, who was considered the most trusted leader of Jaganmohan Reddy, too had cited almost similar reasons for his exit, which exposes the need for Jaganmohan Reddy to change his style of working.
