Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone for the first five-star hotel ‘My Fortune, Guntur’  in   Amaravati, the futuristic capital region of the sunrise state of Andhra Pradesh. 

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone for the first five-star hotel ‘My Fortune, Guntur’ in Amaravati, the futuristic capital region of the sunrise state of Andhra Pradesh.

Being built at a cost of Rs 150 crore, the project will provide employment to about 550 people. This will also mark ITC Hotel’s debut in the city.

Stating that Guntur is famous for chilli, cotton and tobacco, the Chief Minister has that there is a lot of scope for agro-based industries and urged the industrialists to take initiative in this regard.

The agro-based industries would help farmers get a better price. He said that there is need to boost export of spices as well.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has been exporting 50 per cent of shrimp to various countries and hoped that AP would become number one in the shrimp exports soon.

While stating that famous Venkateshwara temple in Tirumala, Vinayaka temple in Kanipakam, Goddess Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada, Satyanarayana Swamy temple in Annavaram, Siva temple in Srisailam are some of the important temples in the state, he prevailed upon the ITC to play a key role in promoting temple tourism on a large scale.

ITC chairman YC Deveshwar said they would construct another 5-star hotel in Amaravati and appealed to the government to allot land for the same.

He said ITC agro-business head quarters would be shifted to Guntur shortly. The ITC will construct office buildings and staff quarters in Guntur for agri-division, he added.

Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, ministers Prattipati Pulla Rao, Ravela Kishore Babu, MP Galla Jayadev, MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy were among those participated.
