As YSR Congress launched a protest rally all across Andhra Pradesh, tension prevailed in Macherla town of Guntur district as police obstructed the protest stating that they had no permission for the Dharna. Ahead of YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Macherla to take part in the programme on Monday, the police announced that the protest rally had no official permission.

The situation turned violent when the YCP leaders decided to stage the protest defying the police orders resulting in the police bring in more officials to the area. Even after YS Jagan and other YSRCP activists reaching Macherla, things didn't calm down. Even in Ongole of Prakasam district, the police removed the tents put up by the YSRCP activists for camps.

YSR Congress has taken up the protest rallies against the state government's failure to failure to address the severe drought conditions and water crisis in the state.
