Gundugolanu-Kovvuru National Highway to be extended

Eluru: The Gundugolanu to Kovvuru National Highway will be extended to deal with increasing traffic on State highways and on the roads which have high traffic, according to District Collector K Bhaskar.

The Collector held a review meet on the progress of various projects at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Addressing the officials, he said around 1,020 acres of land will be acquired from Gundugolanu and Kovvuru for the expansion of National Highway. The Collector informed the officials that the road alignment was completed and directed the National Highway Authority Project Director J C H Venkata Ramana to submit a hard copy of Google Map.

He made it clear that there won’t be any change in road alignment. He said the displaced will get decent compensation as per New Land Acquisition Act, 2013. He directed Irrigation SE Venkataramana to expedite the Yanamadurru Drain works and other irrigation project works as part of Delta modernisation programme.

Joint Collectors P Koteswara Rao, M H Sheriff, Land Acquisition Special Deputy Collector Bhanu Prasad, Land Acquisition officers Pushpamani and R V Suryanarayana, Polavaram SE Srinivasa Yadav, RDOs N Tejbharath and B Srinivasa Rao and R&B SE Srimannarayana participated in the meeting.
