Eluru: The Andhra Pradesh Police Officers’ Association demanded that the producer and director of ‘Mental Police’ change the title immediately as the title affects the police morale.

The Association president of West Godavari unit, K Nagaraju, organising secretary P Hanumantha Rao, co-opted member YlD Krupavaram, executive member MV Ramana met cine hero Srikanth on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

The movie shooting was going on at Police Parade Grounds here. On the occasion, the leaders met Srikanth on the grounds. The leaders stated that the producer and director had named the movie title as ‘Mental Police’ and this would create a sense of levity on police among the public. In view of this, the leaders requested the producer, director and the hero to change the title of the movie.

Responding to the request of the police officers, Srikanth said, “You can understand the title after you watch the movie. The police character in that movie never bows his head to pressures and discharge the duties with sincerity and honesty.

Everyone calls him Mental Police when he discharges duties with honesty and sincerity. This film improves reputation of police department also. However, a petition has been filed against the title in Hyderabad city Civil Court and it has directed the Censor Board to decide on the issue.”

Srikanth added: ‘As you submitted the memorandum to us on this issue, we would consider changing the name of the movie.”
