Visakhapatnam: Four persons, including two brothers, were killed after lightning struck them at two different places in north Andhra region on Thursday.

The lightning claimed two brothers K Someswara Rao (9) and K Praveen Kumar (7) while they were playing outside their house at Billaput area under Dumbriguda mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency.

Soon after the showers began, lightning struck the children killing them on the spot. In another incident, two shepherds were killed at Jeegiram area under Saluru police station limits in Vizianagaram district.

The deceased were identified as A China Sambayya (60) and M Siva (25).The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday.

According to police, the two shepherds were grazing the sheep in a farm field when heavy rain forced them to take shelter in an empty hut. They were killed instantly after lightning struck them.

The incident came to light after the sheep returned home without their owners. The family members began a search for the two and found them dead in a demolished hut.

Sub-Inspector of Salur A S Rao registered a case and handed over the bodies to their relatives after conducting a post-mortem.
