25,000 devotees to witness Annavaram fete

Annavaram (East Godavari): All arrangements have been made for devotees thronging Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple for
the week-long Kalyanotsavam celebrations which commenced here on Sunday. More than 25,000 devotees are expected to witness the
celestial wedding.

According to temple executive officer Kakarla Visweswara Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa will take part in the
Kalyanotsavam celebrations to be held on May 17. Endowments Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners are also likely to take part in
the event.

Police have beefed up security for the Gramotsavam to be held as part of the Kalyanotsavam celebrations. The temple has made elaborate
arrangements for supply of drinking water, buttermilk and lemon rice to the devotees in queuelines and budget for the fete are pegged
around Rs 41 lakh.

The Kalyanotsavam will commence at 9.30 p.m. on May 17 and will extend up to midnight. On May 18, the newly-wed deities will be
made to witness Arundhati star in the sky, followed by Vana Mahotsavam on May 20 and Chakrasnanam in Pampa lake will take place on
May 21. The event will conclude with Pushpa yagam on May 22.

The presiding deities will be paraded on various vehicles through the thoroughfares of the town during the celebrations.
