Tirupati: Under the banner of Tirupati Chamber of Commerce (TCC), the members of as many as 27 trade associations here took out a bike rally on Tuesday as a build to the bandh called by TCC for three days from May 25 to 27. The TCC decided to go ahead with the three-day bandh despite Minister for Environment and Forests B Gopalakrishna Reddy and other TDP leaders tried to dissuade the traders from the band keeping in view the Mahanadu which will begin here on May 27.

  • 27 trade associations take part in bike rally
  • TCC calls for three-day bandh from May 27 to 29
  • Minister Bojjala requests TCC to reconsider its decision as it will have adverse impact on pilgrims visiting Tirumala
  • TTC to call off bandh only after CTO-2 Srinivasulu Naidu is transferred
  • Trade associations allege Srinivasulu Naidu harassing the traders on flimsy grounds

During the talks, the leaders of various trade associations insisted on the immediate transfer of Commercial Tax Officer-2 (CTO) Srinivasulu Naidu for harassing the traders on flimsy grounds for giving up the band but the Minister sought them first to withdraw the bandh proposal before considering their demand after Mahandu.

However, the TCC and its member organisations resolved to go ahead with the bandh and organised the motorcycle rally as a build up to the band. A TCC functionary told The Hans India that a padayatra will also be taken in the city on Wednesday, the first day of the three-day bandh called by TCC to achieve the transfer of Srinivasulu, who turned the eye of the storm in the trade circles in the city.

The functionary also explained that they have no other go except organising three-day trade bandh covering Tirupati, Renigunta, Chandragiri and Tiruchanur, though it would cause a lot of inconvenience to people particularly pilgrims visiting Tirumala, to force the government transfer Srinivasulu Naidu.
