CPM to highlight govt failures

Visakhapatnam: Suppressing actual facts, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announcing that Vizag has registered remarkable growth in the State in the recent Collectors’ meeting is nothing but to mislead the people of north coastal Andhra, alleged CPM Greater Visakha City Committee secretary B Ganga Rao Addressing the media here on Saturday, B Ganga Rao lamented that the State government was indulging in anti-people policies like eyeing bauxite mining in the Agency, forcible land acquisition in the rural areas under PCPIR, offering valuable lands to the corporate sector in the name of IT development.

Referring to the completion of two-year rule of BJP, he charged that north Andhra was totally neglected as the Centre has not fulfilled the promise of according Special Category Status to the State, special package for backward north coastal Andhra and a special railway zone for Vizag.

Moreover, the Central government has sanctioned only Rs 30 crore for the IIM this year against its requirement of Rs 800 crore and Rs 1 lakh only for grounding the Vizag Metro Rail Project, he criticised.

To highlight the failures of both the TDP and BJP governments during their two-year rule, a massive protest will be staged at the Gandhi statue on June 1. To ensure the development of north Andhra especially Visakhapatnam district, Ganga Rao demanded both the governments to initiate steps to ground Uttarandhra Srujala Sravanthi Scheme, to revive the sick jute and ferro alloys industries, to protect people from pollution, to grant sufficient funds to sugar factories working under cooperative mode, to allocate captive iron ore mines to Vizag Steel Plant and to withdraw the bauxite mining proposal.
