Anantapur: The district administration in tune with the Chief Minister's directives at the recently held Collectors conference at Vijayawada is making all arrangements for introduction of e-office and paperless governance from July 1st, according to Joint Collector B Lakshmikantham.

During review meeting with district officials, the Joint Collector asked them to get set and be ready for transition from paper based files to paperless online running of files. He said that the main objective is to ensure transparency and graft-free administration. Running of paper files from July 1st will not be entertained. In fact, about 10 government departments including Information and Public Relations department will set the tone for the transition to paperless administration from June 1st itself, Lakshmikantham said. With the exception of outsourced employees, all State government employees must do away with the manual running of paper files and send every file for approval or whatever only online.

The district administration is being geared up to realise the Chief Minister's dream of establishing paperless offices and as part of the efforts to implement the same from one month from now, awareness is being created among the officials and heads of departments in this regard. All employees are being advised to create official e-mail Ids and also digital signatures. The departments of Revenue, DWMA, DRDA, Zilla Parishad, Transco, and DSO and other departments have already geared up to realise the objective.

There are 15,000 employees in the district and only 2,500 computers are available in the government offices. If e-office is to be established, another 13,000 computers are required to facilitate everyone to use only the computer instead of papers and files. The district administration is determined to introduce e-office at least in the district headquarters in the city and subsequently expand the same to other parts of the district. Even then, the city offices may need another 1,000 computers if the CM's objective is to be realised in the next 30 days.
