Arrest Lavanya murderer: CPM
The city committee of CPM on Sunday demanded the city police to immediately arrest the accused who intentionally hit the two-wheeler of a woman Lavanya at Saalapuvanipalem on the national highway near Anakapalli with his car killing her on the spot on May 22.

Accuses TDP MLAs of trying to shield the accused
City secretary of the party B Ganga Rao alleged that some of the TDP MLAs were trying to shield the accused by portraying the incident as road mishap. As legislators, they were supposed to do justice to people. Terming it as unfortunate that the police had failed in nabbing the culprit even after a week, the CPM leader demanded them to step up the investigation without depending on the CC camera footages.
The police had examined the CC camera footages on Saturday too in which it was observed how the family members of Lavanya had spent time at the Goddess Nookambika temple, Anakapalli from 10 am to 4.30 pm on that day and there were no heated arguments or fights.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police Sattar Khan accompanied by ACP K Prabhakar also examined the scene of offence on Saturday and enquired about the incident.
