Rajamahendravaram: Inter-gang rivalry involving the notorious blade batch, which targets single women and innocent farmers returning home from markets, in the city is posing a challenge to the law and order situation. They resort to showdown and going to the extent of killing rivals, if the killing of their rival Ramesh who formed a gang, was any indication.

- While Ventrapati Mahesh of Churchpeta is heading one gang, Dhanala Ramesh alias Budda of Vaddeela Veedhi was leading the rival group

In a scene that reminisces one of Ram Gopal Varma crime flick, some of the gang members arrived on a three-wheeler and assaulted Ramesh in the heart of the city in full public view. To ensure his death, they took the seemingly dead Ramesh on a three-wheeler and went around the city hitting him all along the route to CTRI where they had abandoned the body and fled.
The victim was identified as Ramesh who runs an auto-rickshaw as a cover but formed his own gang along with two others rivaling the blade batch. According to Three Town Circle Inspector Koteswara Rao, two blade gang batches are operating in the city with Rajendranagar as their base.
While Ventrapati Mahesh of Churchpeta is heading one gang, Dhanala Ramesh alias Budda of Vaddeela Veedhi was leading the rival group. The groups were on the rampage in the city snatching gold chains from gullible women and farmers returning home after selling their produce.
According to the Circle Inspector, the blade batch decamped with a three-wheeler laden with costly goods in an incident of crime that had taken place recently on a highway close to the city. The murder of rival Ramesh brought to light the inter-gang wars. Ramesh formed his own gang along with two other men. He targets single women and looks gold from them and also smuggles ganja.
As Ramesh gang became notorious with each passing day, it became an eyesore for Mahesh gang. In a clash with Ramesh, Mahesh let off Ramesh two days ago with a warning asking him not to interfere with his gang activities and running a parallel gang. As Ramesh turned a deaf ear to the warning, Mahesh gang hatched a plan to eliminate Ramesh.
Four youths from Mahesh gang assaulted lonely Ramesh and killed him in a gruesome incident, which brought to light gang war led murders in the city. It may be recalled here that between 1993 and 1995, unruly youths formed into groups and launched attacks on one another and the clashes led to murders. There were instances of eliminating rivals in broad daylight.
The mischief mongers struck again during 2001-02. Series of murders rocked the city. There were apprehensions about the same instances repeating again.
