Visakhapatnam: Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) demanded Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu who was declared elected as Rajya Sabha Member from Andha Pradesh unanimously to announce the long-pending Separate Railway Zone for Vizag.

The forum general secretary, A Aja Sarma, found fault with the Railway Minister’s ‘evading’ attitude in his very first meeting after being elected to the RS.

He alleged that it was very unfortunate to say that there was no clarity in providing a separate zone for Vizag in the AP State Bifurcation Act.

The Minister’s claim that it was only incorporated in the Act to see the possibility of a separate rail zone and not to set up the zone in Vizag was nothing but misleading public and doing injustice to the State.

He also took strong exception to the remarks of Suresh Prabhu who said they were still holding talks for the zone as it has technical problems.

It was nothing but cheating people of north Andhra, Aja Sarma said and demanded the Minister to come out with clarity on the zone as it was specifically mentioned in the Section 93 Schedule-13 of the Act to examine the separate zone issue within six months.

He further clarified that nowhere in the Act, it was mentioned not to create a separate zone for Vizag. The Minister’s contradictory and evading statements further confusing the public.

Aja Sarma also demanded the State government to mount pressure on the Centre in this regard.
