Union Minister of Human Resources Development and senior BJP leader Smriti Irani said the Centre sanctioned higher education institutions worth Rs 6,000 crore for the development of education in State. As part of the Vikas Parv, celebrations being organised in 200 cities and towns of the country by the BJP, to mark the completion of the two-year rule under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , the State BJP leadership conducted a meeting (Vikas Parv) at A Plus Convention Hall here on Tuesday evening. State BJP leaders including MPs, State Ministers, MLAs and hundreds of activists attended the meeting.

Former Union Minister of State for HRD Daggubati Purandeswari translated Smriti Irani’s speech into Telugu. The party workers cheered Smriti Irani by shouting the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her speech. Addressing the party cadre, Smriti Irani said the BJP government granted several institutes of national repute like IIM, IIT, IIIT, NIT and others to Andhra Pradesh worth Rs 6,000 crore.
She listed out the welfare schemes like Suraksha Yojana for workers, Fasal Bima Yojana for farmers, Swachh Bharat, LPG connections for poor, opening of bank accounts with zero balance etc, being implemented by the BJP government in two years during her speech.
The Union Minister said 4.17 lakh toilets were constructed in the government schools for girl students under Ministry of HRD as part of Swachh Bharat. She said 1.20 crore individual toilets were constructed in the country under Ministry of Urban Development under the leadership of Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
The HRD Minister said one crore LPG consumers voluntarily decided not take the subsidy granted by the Union government due to the call given by the Prime Minister. She said three crore poor people would get gas connections with the decision taken by the gas consumers not to avail the benefit.
Smriti Irani said 21 crore poor people have opened the bank accounts with zero balance and saved Rs 37,000 crore as deposits due to the decision taken by the Central government to cultivate the savings habit among the poor. She exuded confidence that the country will prosper under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the coming three years.
Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said the construction of national highways is going on at a brisk pace in the country. He said about 30 km road is being laid every day on an average and it was only 2 km per day during the UPA rule. He said highway projects worth Rs 50,000 crore were sanctioned for AP. He reminded that the Union government had announced Vijayawada Outer Ring Road worth Rs 20,000 crore after bifurcation of the State.
Earlier, BJP State president K Haribabu spoke about the development works and welfare schemes being implemented by the BJP government in the country. State Ministers Kamineni Srinivas, P Manikyala Rao, MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, former MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and Velampalli Srinivas, city BJP president D Umamaheswara Raju and other leaders were present.
