Rajamahendravaram: Tension grips East Godavari district as the indefinite fast of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham entered the fifth day on Monday.

The doctors who are monitoring the health of Mudragada at the Government General Hospital here said on Monday that the health of the fasting leader is stable. But, his relatives and followers expressed concern over his health.

On the other hand, Kapu leaders are making efforts to solve the problem amicably through dialogue.

Speaking to reporters, the team of doctors who are monitoring the health of Mudragada said that the condition of the Kapu leader is stable and added that fluids were administered to his wife and daughter-in-law as their blood pressure levels dropped.

The doctors said that no medical tests were conducted on Mudragada for the last five days as he refused to give blood samples. They explained that they informed Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas about the health condition of the Kapu leader.

Meanwhile, Damisetty Satyannarayanamma, sister of Mudragada, who visited her brother in the hospital, said that Mudragada is very weak and is unable to speak.

She mentioned that the actual condition of her brother was different from what the doctors disclosed. She alleged that the State government is neglecting the health of her brother and held Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu responsible for his plight.

In the meantime, leaders and people’s representatives from the Kapu community are making efforts to secure bail for the 13 persons who were arrested in connection with the Tuni violence. It is learnt that Rajamahendravaram Urban MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana and Ramachandrapuram MLA Thota Thrimurhtulu are in touch with advocates on how to get bail for the arrested persons.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Akula Satyannarayana said that he held talks with the family members of Mudragada and informed that the Kapu leader gave positive signals to hold talks with the government to solve the problem.

Though it is not possible to lift cases against the arrested people as the issue is under the judiciary, he said that the government has made it clear that it has no objections to grant bail for the arrested persons.

He explained that discussions were held with Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and expressed hope that the issue would be resolved very soon.
