3 held, opium worth ` 1 lakh seized

The police arrested three persons for possessing opium here on Tuesday. They were carrying 900 grams of opium worth Rs 1 lakh.
Visakhapatnam: The police arrested three persons for possessing opium here on Tuesday. They were carrying 900 grams of opium worth Rs 1 lakh.
They were taken into custody while carrying the opium in a car. They were identified as B Daniel Sunil Kumar (38), A Ramakrishna (39) and P Dhana Raju (49), all friends and belonging to various parts of the city.
Briefing the media, DCP (Crimes) T Ravi Kumar Murthy said that the trio procured the opium frominterior parts of Odisha and went to Chennai to sell it for Rs 5 lakh.
When the deal failed in Chennai, they returned to the city and made attempts to dispose it of for Rs 1 lakh. Acting on a tip off, the CTF team intercepted a vehicle and seized the contraband from them.
