Vijayawada: MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy, who defected from YSRCP, discounted the charge of YS Jaganmohan Reddy that he was sold out to the ruling party.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Nagi Reddy said there was no need for him to be sold out. He said his family had been rich from the days of British and there was no need for him to sell his career and self for money as alleged by Jaganmohan Reddy.
He said that Jagan’s statement exposed his inexperience and over ambitiousness to occupy the Chief Minister post. Referring to the YSRCP leaders demand for his resignation, Nagi Reddy said he was ready to quit and seek re-election.
He asked the YSRCP leaders whether they were ready to close the party, if he retains the seat. He said he would also make his daughter Akhila Priya and S V Mohan Reddy to quit and seek reelection and dared the YSRCP leaders to accept his challenge of closing the party, if any of the three retained their seat.
The legislator also asked the leaders to seek the resignation of the party legislators, including the MP P Srinivasa Reddy from Telangana to quit and seek reelection. He wondered why the YSRCP leaders were turning a blind eye to the defections in Telangana.
Nagi Reddy said that Jaganmohan Reddy had failed to play constructive opposition leader’s role and was in a hurry to grab power. Stating that the State needed united efforts for development particularly after bifurcation, he regretted that Jaganmohan Reddy was creating problems to the State by dividing people on the lines of region and caste.
He alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy was trying to create political unrest in the State. He said that people were watching the power hungry politics of Jaganmohan Reddy and would teach him a fitting lesson.
He also sought to advise the YSRCP leaders including Jaganmohan Reddy to stop making false and derogatory comments against him and his family members failing which he would resort to counter attack.
Nagi Reddy’s daughter Akhila Priya was also present at the news conference.
