Pithapuram: Municipal deputy executive engineer MVK Madhavi on Saturday that she would strive to provide basic amenities to differently-abled people and maintained that ramps were being built in schools for the benefit of physically challenged. Participating as chief guest at Badi Pilustondi programme, the deputy executive engineer said grills were being built in schools.

Differently-abled students need more care at home rather than at schools, she said. She stressed on holding special counseling sessions for parents. In-charge of Bhavita programme Rajkumar said that speech and physiotherapy were being provided to children at the Bhavita Center. A monthly allowance of Rs 250 was being paid to each child attending the center and an equal sum to his or her attendant.

Special children were being provided with implements, wherever necessary. Virava Zilla Parishad High School head master Gajula Subrahmanyam presided.

RRBHR Government High School head master Venkateswara Rao, mandal resource person DLMT Mallikarjun, community resource persons Venkateswara Rao, Nageswara rao and Jyoti and others took part in the programme.
